Wanaka is situated in the heart of the South Island of New Zealand's Southern Lakes, which abound with skiing and snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, bungy jumping, mountain climbing (or just hiking), skydiving, white water rafting, jet boating, water skiing, windsurfing, mountain biking and the list goes on. For those whose tastes run to gentler pursuits there is golf, excellent wineries, fishing, boating, excellent walking tracks, cafes and shopping.
